Workout Essentials and Tips You Need Right Now

Workout Essentials and Tips You Need Right Now

We all know what the benefits of exercising are, but knowing is easier than doing! To lighten your load, we’ve listed all the working out essentials and tips here, so now you’re one step closer to being healthy! ;)

By: Yi Jun

Tip 1: Wear the right fit

Tip 1: Wear the right fit

Just like your normal clothes, it’s important to wear workout clothes that fit you perfectly. This is especially important for sports bras. The wrong fit can affect your workout and actually put you off since you’re not properly supported. Find out how to do so here! The right sports bras won’t just do the job, but are totally #instagramworthy too.

On off-workout days, style your sports bras with:
Leggings and Bomber Jacket
Runner Shorts and Cap

Tip 2: Know your workout beforehand

This way, you’ll pick the right apparels. Tight leggings are great for yoga or pilates, while loose shorts are more suited for cardio. Plan your workout ahead so you’ll be sure to wear something that wouldn’t rip in the middle of your workout. Don’t worry, there are many different versions of workout bottoms (and totally chic ones!), so you’ll have plenty of choices.

On off-workout days, style your workout bottoms with:
Bodysuit and Sunglasses
Oversized Jacket and tank top

Tip 3: Sports shoes > Sneakers

Don’t lie, we’ve all committed this sin of wearing sneakers to exercise before. While it is a free world and you can do whatever you want, your feet gets the most impact when you’re working out. Get a pair of good sports shoes that can aid in your fitness regime, those that won’t wear you down.

On off-workout days, pair your sports shoes with:
Tank top and ripped jeans
Off shoulder top and denim skirt

Tip 4: Sweating it out the right away

While sweating is good for you, it’s not good to leave it on your skin for too long. Your skin will get irritated, and could potentially cause more harm. After your workout, immediately cleanse your skin, especially around your face and neck. Facial wipes are good alternatives if you’re in a hurry. If you can’t stand sweat soaking up on your shirt, then try to avoid cotton tops.

Choose oil-free and fragrance-free cleansers if:
You have sensitive or dry skin

Stretch after your workout, not before.
Do dynamic warm-ups before your workout, then only stretch after. Stretching before may actually decrease your performance! Your pre-workout routine should warm your muscles, so do a lower-intensity of your actual workout to prevent injuries. Stretch after to recover.

Try your best to wear tight workout clothes,
This way you won’t flash anyone when you’re doing the downward dog.

What do you do after a hard workout session? Pamper yourselves,of course!

The Fashion Essentials for Your Lazy Days

The Fashion Essentials for Your Lazy Days

Bad mornings before work, being dragged out by your bestie that wants your company for a night out, opting for takeout because you’re too lazy to fire up the stove… we’ve all had those lazy days where you just don’t feel like doing anything. Yes, not even dressing up. While it’s totally a-okay to feel like Bruno Mars in his ‘Do Nothing’ song, that doesn’t mean can’t switch it up!

Essential 1: Accessories

Essential 1: Accessories

Do not underestimate the power of accessories, they really can bring your casual look to the next level! Whether it’s in a bag, a statement necklace or a scarf, accessories are an absolute essential. What’s even better is that they’re so easy to pull off. This way, you can keep your outfit really simple, and let your favourite accessory do the talking.

Essential 2: Kimonos

Essential 2: Kimonos

While technically any outerwear fits into this category, we picked kimono because it’s especially fitting in our hot and humid country! It’s light, easy to carry around and super versatile. There’s so many designs now - from the printed to the plain - you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice. If that’s not up your alley, a simple cardigan will do the trick.

Essential 3: Details

Essential 3: Details

Not necessarily prints like florals or polka dots; details such as asymmetrics, ripped or badges are becoming must-have items in your closet. They’re a great alternative to your usual tank tops and jeans. Whether you want your details to be in your tops, bottoms or accessories, so long as you stay true to your style. They’ll definitely turn heads!

Essential 4: Pop of colour

One of the easiest ways for a quick dress-me-up would be adding that pop of colour to your outfit! The best thing is, that pop of brightness can be in the form of anything. It could be your bag, a belt, your top or even your shoes. To pull this off, just wear a monochrome mix and then add that splash of colour.

Essential 5: Shoes

Yes, shoes are more than an essential, but I’m talking about the ones besides your flats and heels. Get a statement shoe, such as platform boots or classic slip ons, and watch your outfit completely transform. Of course, you can always wear your usual comfy shoes, but bring on the fancy shoes when you’re in need of something extra!

If you didn’t know, it’s pronounced ‘ran-de-voo’. If you did know, you’d know it’s a romantic night out and you need something to match it! For candlelit dinners, a dinner in the sky, or anything that looks like it came out of a rom-com, a bodycon dress will do you no wrong. It’s sexy and fits the romantic setting well. Pair with a clutch and some dark lipstick for that sultry look. If you’re not that comfortable with skin-tight clothes, co-ords will work just nice.

Not everyone likes to take things over the top for V day, and that’s perfectly fine. May it be in the movies, a picnic with homemade sandwiches or brunch at your usual café, a date is still a date! An off-shoulder-top with ripped jeans will be perfect for the day. Put on a little blusher and your everyday flats before you head out. If it’s too hot out, swap your jeans for cute ripped denim shorts.

You don’t have to just do dinners and chocolates for Valentine’s Day! An outdoor date - jungle-trekking, hiking, or even rock-climbing - is not only good exercise, it’s a great way to bond as a couple too. The things you need to pack into your sports bag are sports bra, sports leggings and sneakers. Wouldn’t recommend applying any makeup for your outdoor adventure, but do bring along an extra set of clothes and whole lot of stamina.
